About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist for our client to manage daily payment processing, cash application, and billing inquiries. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys steady, focused work and has extensive experience in AR. Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily collection and processing of customer payments, including:
- Credit card transactions
- Check deposits and application
- Lockbox retrieval, verification, and upload
- Reconcile daily deposits across all payment channels
- Maintain accurate daily cash spreadsheets for bank reconciliation
- Monitor overdue invoices and follow up with customers
- Respond to billing and account inquiries via phone and email
- Work with internal teams and bank/IT contacts to resolve payment issues
- Prepare supporting documentation for refunds
- Generate weekly invoices for mailing
- Process required payments to state agencies
- Apply financial adjustments resulting from policy or account changes
- Scan and file AR/AP documents
- Assist with voids, uncashed checks, and escheat processes
- Run month-end reporting
- Support various daily accounting tasks and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- 7-10 years of Accounts Receivable experience
- Strong skills in:
- Customer service
- Cash application
- Lockbox processing
- Credit card payment processing
- Experience with high-volume uploads; minimal manual entry
- Proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs and PivotTables required; macros not needed)
- Basic familiarity with insurance accounting is a plus but not required
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Experience in smaller organizations preferred (large-company backgrounds are not ideal)
- Degree not required
